The Power of Network Marketing-Secrets to MLM Success

This is a fantastic Mark Yarnell piece and I think a must read for any network marketer. I thank Eric Allen for sending this to me today. The timing is perfect, since I just received the latest work from Mark Yarnell and Valerie Bates “the Lotus Code”. Please take a few minutes to read this and then implement the power of persistence. If you talk to enough people, you will make it in MLM! Please pass this timeless wisdom along.

The Power of Network Marketing
Mark Yarnell was a minister in a small town in Texas. Unfortunately, he was headed for bankruptcy and was just about to lose his car and home. He was looking for a way out and discovered network marketing. Luckily, he had a wise sponsor.
His sponsor gave Mark what he called “THE PRICE OF PROMISE”.

The promise is: “This business can set you free financially in one to three years.” The price is: “To succeed, you will have to face and conquer 4 major enemies.”

Mark said, “It’s a deal.”
Mark began by inviting 200 friends over to his house to watch a video. 80 said “No, not interested”

Mark had encountered ENEMY #1: Rejection.
He thought, “No problem. My sponsor warned me about that. But I still have 120 people that are confirmed to come over.” Guess what? Only 70 showed up.

Mark had just encountered ENEMY #2: Deception.
Mark thought, “No problem. My sponsor warned me about that. At least those 70 people watched the video!” Guess what? 57 said “Not Interested”.

Mark had just encountered ENEMY #3: Apathy.
Undaunted, Mark thought, “No problem – 13 people DID sign up!” Guess what? 12 of them dropped out of the business shortly thereafter.

Mark had just encountered ENEMY #4: Attrition.
Attrition had left Mark with just one serious associate. Guess what? To this day, that single distributor earns Mark over $50,000 per month.
Mark Yarnell’s story is NOT Unique!

You may have heard of Bill Britt, one of the most successful distributors in Amway. Some years ago, 20/20 did a feature story on Amway. The story spent 19 minutes interviewing whiners and complainers – distributors who had failed. They showed garages full of products they couldn’t sell. During the last minute of the show, Mr. Britt was interviewed in front of his palatial home. He was asked, “Mr. Britt, this business has obviously worked for you. What’s your secret?”

He replied, “There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, ‘No’ and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire.”
Like Mark Yarnell, Bill worked through the numbers.

Jason Boreyko, co-founder of New Vision, told this story. When he was a distributor in Matol, he signed up 50 people. He heard a lot of “No’s” on the way to those 50. Jason took one man, who he knew would be terrific in the business, to lunch and told him about the business. The man said “No”. Jason took the man to lunch again the next month and gave him some updates. Once again the man said, “No”. Jason sent him some more information and took him to lunch again the next month. Again the man said, “No”. That went on for six months. The seventh month, something had changed for the man, and he said, “Yes”. That man made Jason over one million dollars. Jason also worked through his numbers.

While starting Amway, Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, America’s eleventh richest entity, recruited 500 people. 495 dropped out. The five that didn’t quit, built Amway. All $7 billion of Amway’s business was built under those 5 people. Jay and Rich had to work through the numbers.
There are many similar stories.

Jeff, the top money earner in Mannatech, signed up 27 people his first month. One might think that he is especially talented at sponsoring. Actually, Jeff will be the first to tell you that he is not talented at all. In fact, he feels that he did very poorly. To recruit those 27, Jeff talked to 2000 people that first month. And of the 27, the only one who did anything significant with the business was Ray Gebauer, who has more than half of Mannatech in his downline. Jeff’s word to you is this: The numbers never lie. Pick your goal and then get into massive action. If you talk to enough people, you will make it!

Here’s the lesson: Your success is directly related to the degree to which you are willing to work to find others like yourself who are committed to succeed.

Mark Yarnell’s odds were 1 in 50. Jeff’s were really 1 in 2000. Would you be willing to go through 200 people to find the 1 who will make you $50,000 a month? Or go through 200 people to become a millionaire? Or hear “No” uncounted times to sign up 50 people and find that million dollar person? I hope you will. It’s easier when you know the odds up front.

But here’s the catch: You have your own set of odds – and you won’t know what they are until AFTER YOU’VE SUCCEEDED.
So if you’ve gone through 50 or 100 people and you haven’t found 1 serious person yet, you can either give up and assume the business doesn’t work, or recognize that you are working through your own numbers.

Are you willing to find out what your own set of odds is?

This means that you must pay the price for freedom. Remember that the numbers never fail you. Despite where your skill level is, your success is assured if you talk to enough people. And as your skill improves, so will your odds.

There is no such thing as luck in this industry. Winning big is a matter of being willing to pay the price. Are you willing? Your future is in your hands! The choices which you make today will determine the course of your entire future.~

This is wonderful wisdom my friends about the realities of network marketing. I believe there is not a more powerful business model in the world than getting paid on the effort of thousands of other people. In the words of Andrew Carnegie “I would rather have one percent of 100 people’s efforts than 100 percent of my own.” Is it easy? No. Can the process be simplified? Absolutely! Once you Brand Yourself as a Leader you will attract an endless stream of prospects to you. In the words of Mike Dillard, you literally become Magnetic.

Goal Setting in Seven Easy Steps: Free Personal Goal Setting Tips

goals, ilearningglobal, mlm, network marketing Goal setting is a powerful and necessary process for building your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn this dream of the future into your crystal reality.

The process of setting goals is your roadmap to take where you want to go in life. By knowing exactly what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. Here is a Seven Step Method to Goal Setting, which was inspired by Brian Tracy.

Step One: You must decide on exactly what you want. Be absolutely crystal clear about what you want and what is expected of you to achieve your dream and in order of priority. Start with the most important aspects of reaching your goal and then work down hill.

Step Two: Write it Down! It is absolutely imperative that you write down your goals. You must see them through crystalization, meaning you can see it, smell it, touch it. Your goals need to be tangible. I cannot stress how important it is to write down your goals and ojectives and revisit them daily.

Step Three: Set a Deadline for Your Goals. (If you are uncomfortable with the word:GOAL, replace goal with promise. Billionaire, Bill Bartman suggests using “promise” instead. Write down “I promise to myself that I will have this by such and such a date” Whatever it is you want, whether it be money, health, a happier family life, or all of the above, make a promise to yourself. After all, as Bill Bartman says we don’t like to break promises, especially to ourselves. You also need a deadline for reaching your goals. Without a deadline there is no real urgency.

Step Four: You will want to make a list of all the things you need to do in order to achieve your goal. Be specific and keep that list in close to you. This list will be your cheat sheet to success.

Step Five: Great! Now that you have your list, organize it in order of importance. Do the heavy lifting first. In Brian Tracey’s book “Eat that Frog” Brian says if you had to absolutely eat two ugly frogs, eat the ugliest first. So take on the harder things that you need to do first thing everyday and you will see how much easier your day goes.

Step Six: Take Action Now! Just do something. Take immediate action on your plan, just get it going. Brian Tracy says “An average plan vigorously executed is far better than a brilliant plan on which nothing is done. For you to achieve any kind of success, execution is everything”.

Step Seven: Make a Promise. Make a promise to yourself to do something everyday that moves you in the direction of your goal. Make it a daily habit to do what you need to do to achieve YOUR goal. You will be surprised how much you will accomplish. Within 21 days you will go through withdrawl symptoms if you miss just one day of goal building activity.

These are seven easy steps to goal setting. When setting your goals don’t be afraid to dream big. Set one or two outlandish goals.

Close your eyes right now and picture your dream home. How does it look, how is the view, how does it smell, who is there with you? Close your eyes now and dream it, feel it. This dream is your ticket to reality. Hold on to it and make it happen.

Okay! Right now grab a piece of paper, or a notebook and a pen and start writing down clearly defined goals. Don’t procrastinate. Do it now!

Network Marketing Solution: Do You Have A Marketing Plan?

If you are just starting out in your first home based business opportunity or you have been around the MLM block a few times or more with little or no success, there is a reason…you don’t have the correct marketing plan in place. Starting any business without a marketing plan is like going out to sea and setting sail without a chart and the necessary navigation tools that will help insure you get to your final destination. It’s no different in your business you need the proper tools to make sure you get the job done.

Yet, most people approach their home business without any real marketing game plan.

You would be shocked by how many people contact me asking for marketing advice. They’ve started a home based business and they’re NOT seeing the results the hyped-up corporate marketing company overviews portray. The reality is this, you join a network marketing opportunity and the first thing your upline tells you to use is the “memory jogger” and write down everyone you know, friends and family, even your mail carrier is not safe from this insane strategy. “OKAY, GOT YOUR WARM MARKET LIST PUT TOGETHER? ATTACK!” Sad but true, most people do not care about your company or your compensation plan.

Now, is it surprising that 97% of home based businesses fail? Uplines teach their sales force to network, what they leave out is the marketing aspect. After all, it is called “Network Marketing”, leave out the second word and you may as well go sailing without charts. Your personal network will quickly dry up and you will soon have friends and family avoid you at all costs. You must learn how to market. You need to market yourself as a leader, position yourself as an expert. Once you have done this, you will begin to attract numerous leads to you. Okay, you might be saying to yourself ” how do I position myself as a leader? The only person I ever sponsored was my grandmother and she only stayed on autoship for a month and then she quit!”

This is the million dollar question. Heres’s the answer: The only way you can position yourself as a leader is by adding value and a solution to someones problem. Here is a the classic statement by Perry Marshall “Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes-NOT information about drills!”

To dovetail off of Perry Marshall’s analogy, Mike Dillard says: “This sums up the entire marketing problem of the MLM industry today. Ninety-nine percent of the reps out there are trying to sell their drill which is their business or their product when people don’t want a business or a product. They don’t like being sold (they like to buy!). And unless you’ve made a profession out of selling, you can’t sell.”

Okay, I don’t blame you if you are scratching your head and wondering where am I going with this. Here is the answer: you need a system in place that not only brands you as a leader but provides a solution that will benefit your prospects. That’s it! Simple. If you learn how to be the hole not the drill, the world is your oyster. As always, See You at the Top!
