MLM Recruiting Tips : Sponsoring Up the Socio-Economic Food Chain

mlm sponsoring recruiting tip tipsI was on a webinar last night with the legendary speaker, author, mentor, and success coach, Jeffery Combs. Jeff specializes in prospecting, leadership, personal breakthroughs, prosperity consciousness, scripts, mindset training and all levels of effective marketing. The topic of the webinar was the Psychology of Money and what is needed of you to succeed in free enterprise as a network marketer in the highly competitive MLM industry. One topic that Jeff has done a lot of research and training on is procrastination. He has found that people procrastinate for many reasons, fear of failure, fear of success, low self esteem, and many more. All of these fears directly affect how successful you will be in your network marketing business. You can’t help but nod your head in agreement when listening to Jeff speak on this topic and say to yourself  “Yep, that’s me, or… yes, I used be just like that too”.

One thing Jeffrey touched on was on how fear stops network marketers from recruiting up the socio-economic food chain. Sadly, these are the exact people that you want to attract into your MLM business if we want to build fast and strong. Almost everyone has a list of very successful business people that they know and could call, but they don’t. This list has a term in our industry known as “The Chicken List” and everyone has or have had a chicken list. Each of us has a different reason for not making the call or calls, but I think it all boils down to the fear of hearing “NO” “Not Interested”.

By not making the phone call we have guaranteed a No for an answer. So fear must be pushed aside. I had a person I thought would be perfect for my business and I never got up the courage to call him up and introduce my opportunity. I made the excuse he would never go for MLM. One day he calls me up and tries to recruit me into his new MLM business opportunity. Had I called him, he would be in my business, on my team!

So if you have a chicken list tucked away in a desk drawer, take it out, dust it off, and make some phone calls. Say: “I have something I am very excited about, will you me a favor and take a look at it for me? I truly value your opinion. Thanks”.

You should also use the power of the 3 way call with someone in your upline. Third party validation is super powerful. When I am driving in my car I like to listen Mike Dillard’s “Black Belt Recruiting” with Mark Wieser, both Mike and Mark touch on the chicken list and the power of the 3 way call, they still use it. If it is good enough for the Guru’s…well you know. Grab your list and pick up the phone.

P.S. Before I wrote this post I made a call to someone on my chicken list, I asked them if they kept their options open to making money outside of what they are currently doing? They said “yes!” (I gave them a very short intro to my opportunity) “that sounds interesting, please email some more info”. I will follow up with them in two days.

See You at the Top!
